Raw and real, TURNING POINTS, is the story of change. It is the story of transition and what makes someone want to turn his or her life around. Based on the real-life experiences of 60 students from Place Cartier Adult Education Centre, TURNING POINTS takes us into the lives of these young adults who have all, for one reason or another, dropped out of high school and yet chosen to return to continue their education. In their own language of rap and spoken word poetry, we feel the beat of their struggles, the beat of their strivings and finally the beat of their triumph.     Réel et authentique, TURNING POINTS est l’histoire du changement.
C’est l’histoire des transitions et ce qui inspire les gens à changer leurs vies. Basée sur des faits réels, l’expérience de 60 étudiants du Centre d’éducation pour adultes, Place Cartier, TURNING POINTS nous amène dans la vie de ces jeunes adultes qui sont tous, pour des raisons où des autres, revenus finir leurs diplômes.Dans leur propre langage du rap et poésie, ils nous livrent le beat de leurs luttes, le beat de leurs aspirations.   TURNING POINTS was a true collaboration from start to finish. After an initial meeting, the students were divided into working groups. Some students wanted to share their stories; others helped create the images that would tell a story of their own. Each student’s contribution was unique, demonstrating the wealth of talent within the group. There were youth break dancing down the school hallways. A music studio was created in one of the classrooms. Guitar playing and one of the rap sequences took over the cafeteria. There was a lot of noise, a lot of laughter, and a lot of meaningful exchange. The film crew captured as much as was possible in 4 sessions and the powerful result is TURNING POINTS. TURNING POINTS est une vraie collaboration du début jusqu’à la fin. Après une rencontre initiale, les étudiants ont choisi différentes taches suivant leurs intérêts. Quelques étudiants voulaient partager leurs histoires personnelles; d’autres ont créé les images du story-board.
Ensemble ils ont contribué d’une façon unique, ce qui démontre la richesse des talents dans le groupe. Il y avait des jeunes qui dansaient du breakdance dans les couloirs de l’école. Un studio d’enregistrement était établi dans une des salles de classe. La cafétéria était convertie en plateau de tournage pour le rap et la guitare. Il y avait beaucoup de bruit, beaucoup de moments émouvants, et de bonne rigolade. Notre équipe a essayé de capturer le plus possible en 4 sessions et le résultat puissant est TURNING POINTS.
